I found her case particularly compelling. She murdered 2 people while under the influence of drugs, so there was something of a mitigating circumstance. She became a model prisoner according to reports and I saw the potential for her to work within the prison system to help others. I certainly did not see her as a threat to the prison community or the community at large. Contrast her to a case here in Missouri where our Democrat governor commuted a death sentence of a murderer who killed an entire family, including an handicapped son at the request of the Pope to coincide with the Pope's visit to St. Louis. The governor didn't want the execution to take place at the same time as the Pope's visit, so he commuted the sentence to life. Totally pandering to the Catholic community. The argument for no death penalty used to be better one guilty person go free than one innocent to their death. Unfortunately, we let thousands of guilty go free to prey upon innocent victims again and again. So in protest the death penalty is re-instated. We have such corruption in our judicial system that I no longer trust it with life or death decisions, so I believe we should not use the death penalty in any case. I would like to see special prison facilities created for those guilty of murder, and would like to see that the laws are written such that no one who commits such crimes ever walks free again. bp
