"...the mendacious, ignorant, greedy and stupid leading the gullible..."

For once, I'm speechless - I can't top that. It's a perfect satellite phone zen poem. It should be translated into latin and stamped on the official stationary of a certain investment bank.

I agree that DoCoMo probably is nationalistic... so let's both agree on Telstra as a test case! They are running both GSM and CDMA networks - they are an Australian operator. So their 3G decision is something that even Charlene Barshefsky has to accept.

Talking about Charlene... I'm tempted to make a further comment about things both "monstrous and fearsome in tooth and claw"... but I won't.

That's because they [the Japanese] are a little collection of heaps of people and haven't been involved in network effects much at all. They have had great success with developing a protected home market, working like hell, then selling stuff around the world to people who have destructive unions and lazy, welfare-oriented economies. They will try to repeat that feat. They will fail.

But, on the other hand....

But scurrying in the forest is a hot little mammal! [snip] Kyocera, or Samsung will perhaps be the new alpha male.

OK, Maurice. Let me see if I've got this right. We have these little collections of heaps of people, or hot little mammals, as the case may be, and in the case of Kyocera, which last time I looked was headquartered in Kyoto, should I conclude from the above that they will both fail and become the new alpha male...

Or was it they would fail becoming the new alpha male?

Tero, Maurice - classic exchange in the annals. Good thing the cop around here is Bob and not SI Bobbie. Many thanks for the great repartee.

P.S. For years cosmetics makers have deliberately used phallic packaging to sell to women. The important part is to get lots of curves in the plastic.
