Because companies that are blowing through their results are trading down sharply after they report.

If you are buying (a general comment) because you expect an immediate bounce you are speculating.

Spectacular results could just create enough upside to allow those that want out to get out. Maybe we rebound from here, maybe we don't.

Hopefully we'll get to a point were people are thinking longer term and the margin speculators are bankrupt and scared of these stocks for a while.

You're looking for logic and there ain't none to be found right now, brother.
I just hope this is about the most perfect earnings report a company ever issued or this thing will go down to 0.
