the company might become an attractive takeover candidate.

My memory is always questionable, but I'm reasonably confident that Gemstar implemented a poison pill to thwart take-overs a long time ago, possibly when TV Guide tried a semi-hostile take-over.

It does appear that soemone is trying to crush gemstar.

My feelings exactly. Something is going on and it's unrelated to the fundamentals or the market correction. The merger is ok as are the earnings. Don't change that channel as this is going to get exciting again as in '98.
