Hi Gus,
<<They have to be getting uneasy at the moving variables of this deal -- falling VRTS and falling SEG??? -- and maybe starting to wonder if their audacious attempt to stretch the legal envelope of the letter of the law to the point of matter-of-factly mocking the spirit of the law might start to backfire in unexpected ways.>>
I hope you're right that they are getting uneasy. They should be uneasy. They should be getting ready to piss in their pants. But I would guess that they are more like Macbeth washing the blood off the dagger right now, still envisioning what it will be like to King of the Hill without having to share the fruits of their toil. After all, why should they share it with ingrates like stockholders on, say, Yahoo? (We'll leave out our own favorite site!)

You know, Gus, I am pissed enough that I would rather see the deal fall completely apart and the stock go back into the 20s than see it completed. Hell, even back to the teens! I've waited this long, I can wait another year, no problem.

Let's bring back Al! Or I'm sure Finis Conner would relish the opportunity to run Seagate; now that would be an unexpected and pretty funny turn of events, wouldn't it!

Best wishes,
Sam

thx, Gus - yes, indeed, irony and greed seem to be abundant these days.
Can you even believe it???? Who would have thunk (intentional grammatical error!) that Carl Icahn would be a mere shadow in SL's path.
