Mike

How large is the "high-end VPN" market compared to the rest?
I suspect the 2004 estimates are for the entire VPN market
while the tornado is projected only for the high end VPN
which (I guess) serves the large corporations dist'ing
out their facilities around the globe. At a rapid pace, if
I might add.

Regards
Dinesh

Re: CHKP

Mike, I've been away from my computer but wanted to get back to you on your question.

I am probably not the best person to be asking since I don't own the stock and don't follow it that closely. It's likely folks on the CHKP thread could answer your question better. Tracking VPN subscribers from one quarter to the next, as the Motley Fool piece suggests, would be the best way to conduct a tornado watch. I haven't had the time to do that.

In addition to the high-end VPN appliances, I know that CHKP seems to be moving "down market" as they have announced deals recently which imply a larger audience for their products. For example, supplying security products for always-on DSL and cable modem subscribers. This could imply a tornado in terms of units shipped and possibly revenues. However, I don't know what it means in terms of ASP or gross margins for this market.
