KyrosL: Spoofing is usually posting large enough bids or asks to show buying or selling pressure in order to motivate investors to either buy or sell depending on the spoofing. (Actually I think MMs posting 100 shares and then buying or selling thousands of shares is bullshit as well.)

Sometimes the spoof is at the best bid or ask, then it flashes on and off the level 2 screen. Sometimes they place the bid below the best bid or ask to fake buying or selling pressure, but if the trade action moves toward their offer it quickly disappears. All done to fake you out...
