Nope, I think I'd like to see them re-institute the chain gangs, eliminate the TV, oh and maybe pipe Yanni throughout the facility for good measure <gg>....

The truth is I believe in the death penalty, but our culture has produced leaders of such low quality and hypocrisy and our judicial system has deteriorated to such an extent, that I do not TRUST the powers that be to mete out JUSTICE.

Rich people can buy their way out of prison, poor people and minorities are disproportionately given the death penalty. If it means warehousing the murderers in a prison for the rest of their natural lives to avoid the politics of the death penalty, then I think it's a small price to pay. I also believe that most of the convicted murderers probably really are guilty ( a hunch) and that there ALSO are innocent people on death row. When it can be shown (proven) that there are innocent people being executed, it only serves to further corrode any respect the population has for our judicial system. The only benefit I see to the death penalty is deterrence, keeping the perpetrators off the streets for the rest of their lives is deterrence enough.

That about covers it for me.
