I remember reading about that case. And it reinforces my point about the politics of how these cases are ejudicated. Everyone knows there is disparity on how the sentences are handed down so any "card" is played to manipulate the jury. I think the "cards" would have less power if the jurors didn't believe that a human life was at stake. The fact is that most murders in this country are not prosecuted. Period. We allow "certain" murderers to get away with their crimes while others who are charged and convicted get the full brunt of the law. It's like we really are too squeamish about having people "like us" executed, so we let them off...It's only when the culprit meets the correct "image" of murderer or the crime is just so completely heinous that the death penalty is applied.
