This was in Honolulu, not Maui. He had followed his "True Love" over from the main land. I think he finally figured out the love wasn't mutual, and was returning to Calif.!!! About the crater, we hiked around the top a little, but it was very cold. I'll send you some pictures taken above the clouds...beautiful! Some girl had fallen down the cliff, bike riding down the volcano road. The wind caught her, as she was coming around a curve and blew her off the road. She was hurt quite badly, evidentially. An ambulance was brought up to take her to the hospital. Robyn and Carolyn's daughter were going to get up at 3:30 am to take the sunrise bike ride down...after this happened, they were both happy that they had changed their mind.
