I agree with all you say except for the churning ie. buy old
economy, buy new sell old etc.
Since you acknowledge conflicts of interest and I
believe the probability of collusion and the promotion of
marginal stocks to unsustainable levels, shouldn't the
Justice Department investigate. Obviously the SEC is not.
The precipitous drop in the market is hurting the average
investor and may end up seriously impacting the global
economy. Wall St. should be held responsible for it's part.
Why isn't the Justice Dep't indicting OPEC, the biggest
global monopoly and the biggest threat to the global economy.
Why has Microsoft been indicted? Probably because the Justice Dep't lawyers know very little about hi-tech and
it's relationship to the economy. If Justice wins the case,
software prices will increase with most of it going to the
lawyers.
Joe Public is watching the stock ticker plummet and checking
his/her ticker for skipped heart beats.
Enough said.
