LSI Logic to Acquire Engineering Development Team and Intellectual Property From NeoMagic MILPITAS, Calif., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE: LSI) and NeoMagic Corporation (Nasdaq: NMGC) today announced an agreement in which LSI Logic will acquire NeoMagic's optical read-channel mixed-signal design team and RF intellectual property for use in high-volume communications solutions. The purchase agreement is valued at approximately $14.5 million. Through this acquisition, LSI Logic will gain the expertise of about 40 engineers based in Manchester, U.K. and Santa Clara, CA and the rights to relevant mixed signal patents. LSI Logic will also acquire NeoMagic's RF intellectual property for incorporation into set-top boxes, DVD players and other applications. The companies anticipate closing the transaction by the end of April within NeoMagic's current fiscal quarter.* NeoMagic announced that its DVD drive electronics product line was for sale in its latest earnings announcement on February 17.
