There is a lot of inertia that keeps Intel very profitable. Combine it with AMD's still tiny capacity, that can't threaten Intel yet.

It is changing slowly. Maybe within 2 or 3 quarters, AMD will provide challenge so credible, that Intel will be forced to be responsive to what the customers actually want (as opposed to just push down peoples throats what Intel wants to sell)
