I remember meeting Lawrence Klein in 1982 -- he had just received the Nobel prize for economics. He made a presentation on oil -- it was his work that led people to believe that 100 dollar oil was right around the corner. He had a model with 500 simultaneous equations and a Nobel prize -- i.e. it was hard to stand up and say "you are full of crap you old poophead". But look how wrong he was.
