Tom, Merseales will be very popular now. It's all people will be able to afford.

It seems that Judge Jackson might go down in history as the guy who ended the bull market, but worse, maybe kicked the USA economy [and therefore the world's] into the ditch. Certainly things were primed for a fall, but telling people that they don't have the right to do what they like with their property didn't go down well. The anti-Microsoft and 'we are soooo jealous of $ill Gates' decision looks like the trigger!

Meanwhile, fathers don't have the right to look after their child as they see fit [referring to Elian's 4 month kidnapping against the wishes of two grandmothers and a father - with the mother dead and unable to take her role]. Still, it's better than a Waco re-run!

Oil is still way up and people will be putting $$ in the gas tank instead of the stockmarket.

Interest rates grinding up will have had an effect too.

Now millions of people are selling stocks to pay their debts on margin accounts. Not to mention their next tank of gas too!

A 10% drop in a day. That's a decent chunk. With a total over the last few weeks of nearly 30% down. This is getting to be a LOT of fun. It's making my 'bargain' $15 buy of Globalstar look extremely over-priced.

I imagine this is such a drop that it will provide acres or hectares even of newspaper coverage. A whole new crowd is learning about how stockmarkets can clean people out in a short time.

Judge Jackson did it with a single rant! Alan Green$pan has been moaning for years about excessive stock prices and couldn't move the markets.

Now people will have all weekend to sweat and decide what to do about their margin call. In most instances, the only option will be to sell on Monday! That's a bit scary.

With another 1000 still to go on the Dow before the bottom [my nearly year old theory - adjusted upwards due to the time dilation relativity effect of money dilution over that time] there is some bargain-hunting still to be done.

Only about $4bn in Q! stock changed hands today in the big buy-up though, so well away from the record. The number of shares wasn't really in the top 10 either [split-adjusted] so it's been a bit of a ho-hum day really.

Anyone worrying, cheer up, the Supreme Court, Congress and maybe Al Gore will start talking about how maybe the monopoly 'laws' some dreamboat came up with a century ago are maybe inappropriate and damaging to the economy. The Supreme Court will deem the law unconstitutional and Microsoft won't be destroyed. Congress will change the law and The New Paradigm will roar ahead unabated.

Imagine how many people are going to be voting for a President this year and what they will be thinking about today. Talk of more anti-monopoly laws and kicking of Microsoft and $ill will NOT be a vote-getter.

Let's hope for a real crunch in the market and then maybe QUALCOMM will be allowed to get on with busines in the way they see fit, unhindered by absurd 'monopoly' laws.
