Global TeleMedia Announces Real-Time Credit Card Transaction Clearing On Its OCV System

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 2000--

BentleyTel Network Expands its On-line Capability to Clear Credit Card Transactions and Re-Value Credit Cards in Real-Time

Global TeleMedia International, Inc. (OTC: BB: GTMI) President, Jonathon Bentley-Stevens, announced today that the BentleyTel.com EPOS OCV (Online-Credit-Verification) real-time funds clearing platform developed by BentleyTel.com Australia (www.octa4.net.au) has successfully completed six months of "real-time" transactions in Australia.

Linked on-line via its EFTPOS secure network to large Australian banks, such as ANZ and St George/BankSA, the Company could handle up to 350 transactions per hour per merchant account, with up to 128 different merchants per server.

The Company said it is now confident to expand via its national network to larger cities in all states of Australia. Jonathon Bentley-Stevens said, "EPOS OCV will be an added advantage for BentleyTel members and should be welcomed by all financial institutions. This is one of the prime reasons why we acquired Octa4 Pty Ltd. It has an innovative team of software engineers who have lead the way in Internet-based financial transactions since the mid 90s."

EPOS OCV (http://www.octa4.net.au/octa4/cps_oe.htm) is only one of the Company's B2B and B2C products and features multi-account crediting functionality, real-time transactions through Secured Socket Layer (SSL). Merchants can process transactions using EPOS OCV on a standard PC using Win95/98 or Windows NT via the ISP network. Businesses who are selling on the Internet could seamlessly interface their "Virtual Shopping Mall" to the EPOS OCV system. There is no additional hardware required and the system is ideal for all size businesses. Typically a call center environment would manually produce a batched report for credit card transactions.

The EPOS OCV server could be fully integrated into the call center and its payment gateway, and seamlessly provide real-time on-line credit card clearance.

COO John Walsh said, "We have identified a strategic partner here in the USA who has developed similar technology including proprietary hardware. We are sharing information and developing guidelines for a strategic alliance, which should make the BentleyTel Smart-e-Card the first real-time e-funds transaction card."

He continued, "This is a breakthrough and can be utilized for international real-time e-funds transfers. Of course the BentleyTel EPOS OCV can accommodate all major credit cards. We are in discussions with an institution which experiences more than $300 million in annual credit card fraud. When our system is introduced in the USA, for a small fee per transaction, our system should be able to significantly reduce or almost eliminate the fraud. OCV virtually eliminates not only fraud but accidental overdraw from multiple same-day debts, e.g., regular banks only value cards once per day. On the EPOS OCV your payment is credited immediately.

"Once the system is in place here in the USA we are confident many other institutions will line up to utilize the service. Since the platform is software driven we can update the system as we grow -- without interruption to the Merchant or consumer -- and the number of merchants that can be increased by adding additional servers.

"It is high income potential products like these which earn recurring income that are the focus of the company. For a one-time development cost we attract millions of potential users as we expand this system through out the Pacific Rim countries as well as the other major cities throughout Australia and the USA."
