Obviously the wealth effect and people's perception of
their returns on equities are lowered after the past 4
weeks. 50 basis points in May is politically very implausible.

Several Congressmen were giving Greenspan a hard time,
earlier in the week. After Friday's action, they would
really read him the riot act, unless we magically
spring back to Nasd 5K. -g-
