TI2 and all, a critique and summary of the Semiconductor
Business News
report. The report is...

"Global chip sales up 33% in February from a year ago, but
down slightly from January"
Semiconductor Business News
(04/06/00, 10:40:45 AM EDT)
semibiznews.com

The data is reported very poorly, some in $ and some in %
and doesn't add up to 100%. Why can't they just show a
table? Here's data from the report in tabular form:

DRAM $ 23.1B 13.7% of the total of $168.7B
non-volatile
memory $ 7.1B is 4.2% of $ 168.7B
micro components $ 56.9B is 33.7% of $ 168.7B
memory $ 35.4B calculated from '21% of total'
logic $ 28.5B calculated from '16.9% of total'
-------------------------
Total $151B

Doesn't add to $168.7B,the total reported by Dataquest for 1999.

Financial reporting! Arghhh!
