jazz,

>>Nothing has changed with the fundamentals of our Gs and
Ks or the economy. <<

At this point I'm not convinced of that. If our economy is headed for recession, (no soft landing) then the fundamentals of the G's are impacted. Yes, I believe they will perform better than most, but they will not be immune to a protracted bear. The other point to remember is that the stocks that are "still standing" are providing liquidity for the market, that's why I don't think this will not be over until we see a final capitulation on the leaders. It could be today, and yet if we get another round of unfriendly inflation numbers in May I believe any further rallies will get sold.

If Tom says Monday can be bloody and he doesn't have a crystal ball

Tom's ability to predict correctly is only exceeded by his ability to be wrong with his predictions:)

What I said to Betty was: I hope that we recover this afternoon otherwise Monday is going to be bloody, I suspect.

I would like to see us close today on the NAZ above its 200 dma. This is not the be all and end all -- but fortunately or unfortunately, a lot of technical traders watch this sort of thing.
