Gotta buy some now. Ridiculous panic prices on many top techs. CMGI, NOK, COMS, IBM, CPQ, LOR, WCOM, UIS you name it. Even better steals on beaten down small caps. I wish I had more cash. For those that due catching the bottoms today would seem to be a stellar opportunity. Once tax day and margin calls subside (more subsides every minute) the buying will start for real again, if nothing else just a corrective bounce.

George Cole,Re:" somebody with deep pockets to intervene soon ".
Alan G. just finished saying, in the end of his speech
" that Financial Institutions are used to beeing bailed out by the Central Bank.
However they should expect that kind of intervention only in extreme situations
and thus they should plan for risk situations without expecting
Central Bank intervention ".

One reason I expect a bounce is that the powers that be know as well as we do that if the market does not rally soon, a crash is virtually certain. And one of my tenets is that they do have the power to prevent a crash if they move in time. Do not be surprised if somebody with DEEP POCKETS starts buying futures like mad near the close. But try as they may they cannot prevent a severe bear market if the fundamentals so dictate.
