a. Includes a gain of about C$7.3 million, or 24 Canadian cents a share,
relating to the recognition of future income tax assets earned prior to the
start of fiscal 2000. It also includes a writedown of C$1,112,293 on temporary
investments. The writedown's impact on share earnings wasn't disclosed.
b. Includes a gain of C$39,496 from the disposal of capital assets and a
charge of C$2,047,792 from the abandonment of mineral properties. The impact

Dia Met Minerals Ltd. (DMMA) said equity earnings from its share of diamond
sales from Ekati Diamond Mine, NWT, for the year totalled C$99.8 million. It
said the latest fiscal year was the first full year of production from the
mine.
The company said its outstanding debt obligations for Ekati totalled C$204.8
million at Jan. 31, down from C$276.2 million a year earlier, adding that
since the end of the fiscal year it has repaid a further C$24.1 million.
It said it spent C$9.6 million on mineral properties, exploration and
development in the year, compared with C$6.6 million a year earlier. It said the increase reflects new projects in Mauritania and in Canada.
It said it also spent C$7.4 million in the year on share buybacks, compared
with C$5.5 million a year earlier.
