When Microsoft says Windows2000 sales are "Brisk" and "way exceeded expectations" you can take their word for it. This is a conservative company that sets low expectations and then blows out all expectations.

Hey, I've made plenty money on MSFT for that I am grateful, because the products suck so much, naive users pay me lotsa bucks to make sure their data doesn't zoink out.

As for quotes on IT adoption here they are:

idc.com

techweb.com

"According to a study released by the Gartner Group last week, just 3 to 6 percent of the 1999 commercial installed base of Windows NT server customers will upgrade to Windows 2000 by the end of this year; 45 percent to 50 percent by the end of 2001." -InternetWeek, Feb 21, 2000

<<it also calls for specific physical parameters for the room which a server is housed in. >>

That's what I said. However, you will get people in the MSFT camp trying to tell you that it achieves that rating and lead you to believe that the product is that secure.

Thanks for the challenge. You are perhaps one of the few people who examines things critically here.

It's been a rough week for all. I'm out for a weekend of boozing!
