ted, I don't think they are shorting the stock; but rather selling stock that they bought much cheaper and taking the profit, and then when the price drops, buying back in at the lower price. With the large firms a two point cheaper stock is a big gain because they buy their in such large lots. Just think about it. Imagine you can produce reliably this scenario once, and generate "free" profit. Than what's stopping you from doing it 2, 3, 5, 100, 1,000,000 times per day and generate profit equal to the entire GDP of the USA in a single trading session? Joe
