I might know one of those guys, he posts on SI if the same one.

He often would say what his system had in mind for the day and then he would head out to the beach, I think he lived in Myrtle Beach. Odd place, for a guy who did not play golf.

His System would trade on the Open and take it off on the Close....it was a profitable system, but I don't recall the numbers. Also, it did not trade every day; just days that the device determined were high percentage probability days. I imagine he had to re-optimize it once in awhile, but there is a small price to pay compared to the leisure time it afforded.

In 1995 I had just left NYC and moved everything to home by contracting with BMI. But as it happened, Nasdaq Level II wasn't available at home yet.....so I was somewhat adrift. I was used to seeing the MM motion. Naturally I got killed, so I adapted by swapping out to OEX and then SP Futures.

I have to admit, I've had some of the luckiest bad breaks of anyone I've ever met.
