That is true. I have very rigid ideas of what is right and what is wrong- I just can't tell you they are absolute. I can tell you how I arrived at thinking they are correct- but neither God nor Buddha told me they were correct.

I wouldn't force my beliefs on you. If you asked me for my opinion- as to whether it was right or wrong- I would give you my opinion. Just as I give my opinion here in this open forum- because I enjoy it. I would tell you WHY I thought a given action was right or wrong. But I couldn't tell you you would burn in Hell or suffer any paranormal punishment if you didn't do what I said was right, and if you chose to do what I thought was wrong.

>It is not possible not to
have a definition of right and wrong.<

In my experience many people do not adequately define it. They use a fuzzy intuitive idea that does not merit the term "definition". I do not have a Definition ofwhat is right and what is wrong ... often I apply a seat-of-the-pants evaluation. And often i will change my adjuducation after friends or otherwise respected thinkers point out that I missed important premises in formulating my judgment.

But if you asked me to give a verbal summary of my definition of right and wrong ... I'd have to pass. I can't.

Well, morals tend to be bright lines in my world. They are in fact the bright lines in my world. Based on X's posts I think she sees things mostly as blurred. Our definitions of what constitutes morals are probably not compatible. JLA
