"It started with GS's Abby Cohen advising to take some chips off the table." David- I agree that's about when it started. Goldman and cronies wanted to create a buying opp for themselves. And did you notice how about four BIG houses came out within a day or two and mimicked Goldman. Then more jumped out, then more. And before they knew it, Bam! They overdid their artificial buying opp. They got all their insider hot phones too well connected this time and clearly overdid it.
