This all started with a statement that morals came from religion (see below)- and I'm NOT sure that's true. Religions, just as easily, could have evolved to include morality that "worked".

I've never said some religious morality didn't make sense- I'm a relativist- and lots of things make sense to lots of different people, I accept that. Of course there are also lots of things that people manage to believe that make NO sense (at least to me).

Religions are a starting point for SOME (most?) people's morality- but I don't think they are necessary. I think you do the same moral searching with philosophy.

History shows that morals evolved out of religious values, not through some innocuous
societal dictate. Criminal law is based on societal moral underpinnings. Parents, teachers,
clergy, and others in leadership positions are the teachers of morals.
