Sony estimated that SDRAM or DDR DRAM would have added $30 to $50 to the cost of the system.

Can you elaborate? It is not immediately obvious how an SDRAM system is more expensive than a DRDRAM system.

That is a big deal $30 to $50 on a $300 + product.

The same applies to the Tehama packaging. It is probably very similar to the PS-II interface. Hence, it should lead to a lowest cost product for the value end of the PC market.
I expect that AMD will have to be a fast follower to deal with this issue. JM says they are doing it now.

It interesting that the anti rambusites have only flailed at the Samsung White paper stating that the bandwidth and latency are lowest for RDRAM. I would like to see a convincing argument from them backed up by the appropriate datasheet references.

Hope you weathered the Nasdaq storm. It may not be over yet, I think we will have margin calls on Monday and Tuesday.
