Gary, yes, they WILL raise their equity allocations...DLJ said as much as well. however, a weekend rife with rumors about raised equity allocations, and big buying on Monday is probably the LAST thing the bulls now need. it is very reminiscent of another fateful weekend in the last century...

regards,

hb

Though I wasn't focused on the market today ... I did notice in passing that many funds were mentioned to be short the market ... minimally (at least) in the form of a hedge. Even as some of the markets were climbing the distribution was apparent. I wonder if the incentive is there to bring the markets back at this time. Its still overvalued ... if they are hedged or shorting, why not wait for cheaper .....

Something previously mentioned which I also thought of today was that, like last year, some of the major players will have to gamble with momentum plays later in the year. Its a game I don't usually play ... but I will be more aware of it this time and perhaps hold positions rather than trade out all the time.

I feel sad for many of the people who are having their lives ruined by this. The media & analayst community have a lot to answer for ... especially the latter, who could have prevented this by more downgrades, based on price, on the speculative issues. Course .... when Blodgett put that 400 price on Amazon & a different analyst at a major company basically said it was ridiculous & put a much lower target on it ... I believe he got the heave-ho shortly thereafter.

Well ... at least most on this thread will have a nice weekend ... Monday should be interesting !!
