Astonishing! Was your experience unique? I don't even have an online account, yet I spent two and a half HOURS on the phone Friday, trying to get through to Waterhouse -- and ultimately, I was simply disconnected. Somebody on the "TD Waterhouse service - appalling" thread (http://www.siliconinvestor.com/subject.aspx?subjectid=33699) suggested this was because the phones were being tied up by Web Broker clients who couldn't get through online. (Over there, they call Web Broker 'webbroken'.)

Waterhouse is not the only broker that many of its customers are dissatisfied with. For example, I can remember another thread here on SI, with the catchy title of "E-Trade Sucks."
But I think that the cheap-o discounters & e-traders proved unable to cope with disaster, and that, as much as anything else, is going to hurt their stock price going forward.
