Thread: I've received as a gift MS Windows 2000. Currently I use Windows 98, and am happy with it. I've been advised by a friend not to make the switch, and I see that the box says "Windows 2000 Professional Built on NT Technology, The Reliable Operating System for Business," and I don't need business applications.

I don't like to be ungrateful for a gift, but I can't see any reason to install a new system if I'm happy with my old one. One friend told me that if your computer is over a year old, W 2000 is not a good idea, for some reason. My computer is almost four years old. Has anyone else heard that?

I'd like some other opinions about W 2000 if anyone has them to offer.

hey ed,

currently running anticrash. no probs to speak of. that's the idea!

here's something i came across the other day that supposedly crashes the windows os.

seems to me that clicking on the offending profile with anticrash installed would be a good test.
