heinz, >>imagine Switzerland announcing on Monday it will keep its 1,500 tons of gold after all.

I was thinking about this as a possibility a few days ago when the NAZ had taken it's 2nd day serious dip. Do you think it is an above 50% probability or even possible? The shorts of gold in the world would send a missile with a nuclear warhead to the bank. <g>

Here is a scary thought.

Going beyond the stock market, I am starting to wonder if major money market funds may "break the buck" before long. Given the huge leverage in the economy and financial system today plus massive use of derivatives such an eventually is a real possibilty the way I see it.

George, nevertheless, the countertrend rallies will likely be quite powerful...and probably will only serve to trap more inexperienced investors. but they will be playable...

Agreed, as most "investors" buying the dip have only had to do it on the *right side of the mountain*, not the left.

Buying the dip in an uptrend is always the right thing to do. Funny how most will not figure out that doing in a downtrend can be rather dangerous ;)

Me thinks the greed element will overshadow the fear component until one rally is obliterated by a strong sell off; perhaps then it may be safe.

On another note, interesting to see all the high flier IPO's of not long ago, many trading below IPO price now after reaching incredible highs. Just look at the carnage in KANA, EGAN, CMRC, PPRO, AKAM, RBAK, IWOV, PALM, LNUX (a personal short selling fav), etc. I don't have to do any research to find this list, just think about anything that went wildly up, they are mostly all back down.

Its all too funny for words.
