Can someone post their impression on how the TV press is spinning the drop on Thursday/Friday? Thanks.

interactive.wsj.com

These days, volatility is through the roof: The Chicago Board Options Exchange's Volatility Index, the VIX, hit an 18-month high of 41.13 Friday. (It's still not as elevated as it got during the Asian crisis, when it hit 48 or 49.) Meanwhile, a new and fairly untested Nasdaq volatility index compiled by Merrill Lynch, the VIXN, shot up to 62.2 Friday, compared with 53.57 a week earlier.

Don't forget, next week, April expiration will take place one day early because of the Good Friday holiday.
