They identify it for what it is and establish moral applications as needed. The ideas of humanness and morality are associated but they still have independence. Of course if you are using the term in a societal context then its a different thing. Like "Moral Standards" could be a written code of applied principles. Sometimes people use the term morals in reference to a specific set of applied standards.
