Post #15 there is reproduced below and should get some
people screaming <G>. It says, CDMA is bad, japanese PHS
is good, something from Bellcore PACS is good.
Any opinions ?

Browsing the web via current technology available in the U.S will not
be significant. However, it will work for e-mail and small file
transfers.

The technology available here in the US such as CDMA is slow to really
excite the buying public. In Japan, video telephones are a reality
via the PHS system which operates at a full 32kbs whereas CDMA at its
best is 12kbs. A system soon to be deployed by Telecordia, formerly
Belcore will be an enhanced PHS technology called PACS. PACS is
approved for usage in the US but has fought tough opposition from the
CDMA and TDMA crowd for obvious reasons. It is cheaper, faster and a
real solution for mobile wireless communications at all levels of
usage.
