Kenneth, SCMR does not need to finance networks like NT and LU. The nature of their product line, target customers and revenue expectations allows them to pursue real money and real customers. SCMR also raised several hundred million between the 2 offerings. SCMR is attracting far better people than NT or LU at this point. SCMR has relationships as a result of the ODSI that allows collaboration between vendors to supply customers. They do not have the complete product portfolio of the big 3, but neither does JNPR or FDRY and they seem to be doing just fine. As painful as this drop has been, we are still trading at November '99 levels. This has not yet turned into a real correction. The fundamentals are still there for those outside of the big 3 to be very successful. tp

Ken,

<where does Sycamore get the capital to ramp up production to keep pace with the exploding demand for fiber optic networking products?>

SCMR sold shares to raise $1B in March (was this good foresight or sheer luck??), JNPR also cashed up via convertible loans.

The start-ups that are cash strapped are going to get slaughtered or bought out in the next six months. It looks like the likes of SCMR and JNPR will have enough cash to keep going and prosper.
