That's what hit Tiffany's stock on Friday. That exact thing. Many luxury goods retailers got socked because the perception is that their business will fall off with less discretionary spending. It was a good short, and it's the way you have to think sometimes to make money before others catch the idea for themselves. It's the "find out who this benefits/retards as a result of action X" paradigm of investing. It's worked well for me. Steve
