Regarding Greenspan see this article

Regarding inflation, the Producer Price Index PPI that reported Thursday showed no core inflation. The CPI includes the hit from gasoline and the rising cost of housing (do to the wealth effect? or people just need a place to live where expansion is limited). Energy is heading down and the stock market hit will impact housing prices. I think its premature to congratulate the chairman on this one CPI report.

Probably not, I agree. But if I remember correctly he has raised .25% about 5 or 6 times in the last couple of years for a total of about 1.25-1.5%. Over time, that is a big increase. So I hope he doesn't increase again, but you never know with Greenspan.
