hi james, re barick :

the short answer is pretty much like gst has stated, they hedge...there are some who call this gold stock a hedge fund with a few holes on the side...the utterly hysterical claim that it might get trounced if the price of physical gold does a moonshot...while i'm not in that camp, i want to avoid the risk that MIGHT be there. i don't feel that i'm capable of knowing for sure whats going on inside the company with respect to their hedging, and besides there are other plays. like placer :)

i also have : nem, aem, asa, hgmcy, gold, drooy, gsc, kgc, bmg, paas, hl, franco nevada and some canuck junk

the barick annual meeting is may 16th in toronto...you could fly up for it :)
