HI MM: Good points. I've stated previously the baby boomers are a huge factor that drives this current market, especially the techs, and we won't let it fail. Your mention of bull run to 2006 I also agree with. There are going to be a lot of boomers retire between now and then. During that time, they will have great wealth to drive the market (plus super resilience and determination).

we all know a cross section of investors

most optioned and margined: taken 90-100% hits and wiped out
most margined: taken 70% hits and sold large margin blocks
some margin: taken 50% hits and will sell small blocks Monday
little margin: taken 25% hits and sold margin shares last week
no margin: taken 20% hits, with some moving to cash

most report knowing friends who have taken hits
I know only 1-2 people who plan to sell Monday, and they are minor margin users
it is almost over

we saw the 3day duration and resolution for Monday's margin calls, Tuesday's margin calls, and Wednesday's margin calls

all that remains is for some residual margin call selling on Monday

excellent report from CAtechtrader on House order size
the Houses are preparing to buy large blocks NOW

if I hadnt extended margin for buying CREE, ELON, I would be just fine here, no margin call whatsoever
resolved by Monday morning

I repeat: who is left to shoot down?
the fact that some margin users will sell early in the week doesnt mean we continue a downslide... if Houses and Institutions prepare for catching those shares, we respond late in the day upward

HI marginmike,

Thanks for being a calm rational voice for all the people to heed. Please everyone, print out a copy of MM's post and tape it to your monitor. When you feel the pangs of panic setting in, please reread it over and over. This sell off may not be completely over but all the points you made were valid and no argument I can see can be brought against them.

Thanks again,

Joel
