I'm glad some optimism is appearing, but I remain cautious.

Dear Yaacov: As to where the NAZ will end up by year end the figure you gave is in line with Abby Cohens and she has been pretty correct for a long time. However, the analysts I have seen talk apparently would feel more comfortable if the market opens DOWN rather then Gap up Monday and THEN recovers either late in the afternoon or tuesday. The bottom line is this: It is rarely possible to find the BOTTOM on any market, most, not all, feel that we are near it, especially in the quality large cap issues. For the individual investor the safest course is likely to sit and wait until the upturn comes and then enter. Of course it COULD move very fast and one would lose out on several points or more but in the big picture right now preservation of capital is likely more important than trying to squeeze a few extra points from an investment.
