Elizabeth, do you know of any specific case of a "basher" creating a "so-called" analyst-report on EDIG? If so, could you please point it out? I'm as much opposed to that sort of thing as you are. However, the post you cited apparently isn't referring to anything quite so dastardly. I think they are referring to ClearStation, and other such sites, where individuals can post research and then, if they choose, actually sell the research. The jury is out on the concept, and I'm not really sure yet where I stand on it. However, most of these sites do, at least maintain a clear history, so that you can see what kind of a track record the "analyst" has. Presumably, people will only be willing to pay for research generated by "analysts" with a proven track record. I think this is far preferable to relying on posts on message boards, which are difficult to sort-through, and where people often claim entry dates and entry prices that cannot be verified. The "analyst" boards at least lay out the track record nice and neat, and make it easy to determine if the "analyst" is blowing smoke.
