ed and gottfried,

the code crashed these people... check the replies to the linked post, including one from pw

i just accessed the guy's profile without crashing. chances are he took the test code out. maybe i'll check further with him. bottom line, i'm trying to force a test of anticrash program i just installed per your suggestion. so far (two days?) no browser crashes and one os crash, which surprised the heck out of me. i've had the exact same crash once before, and it is very odd...

the entire screen goes black, except for a white-bordered box comprised of three broad horizontal bands. the bands are red, green and blue, in descending order. in the center (green band) is a flashing error message that says SIGNAL OUT OF RANGE. i have to reset to escape. ever seen or heard of that?

any updates on your anticrash experiences?

ed, thanks for the compliment on my 'install prep' post!

:)
