<< Juan Miguel just wants his son back in one piece, >>

He sure did take a long time to show it! Anyway, according to Cuban law, ownership of Elian is Castro's not Juan's. This is a property dispute between Miami's Cuban Exile Freedom fighters and Castro.

<< ... and is going about the process in the best possible way by going through legal channels. >>

Absolutely wrong! First, Juan needs to petition the Cuban government for ownership of Elian. Then, that ownership document must be tested in U.S. courts to see if it would be accepted.

<< No way could he recover Eli n by going to Miami, he is greatly outnumbered there. >>

Yeh, sure. Right now, in D.C. he is outnumbered by Castro's henchmen. In Miami he would be outnumbered by friends.

<< Personally i'm just glad there are non-stop flights between M‚xico and Canada. >>

In your case, so am I! <g>
