Right. Add to my quiet period scenerio your lockup scenerio and you have worst kind of fleeting wealth.

As well.......that's why I stopped doing the IPO "thing".

Some of these brokers/electronic trading houses want to you wait 2 weeks, or MORE before you can sell your IPO stock. If you break these rules, you get put on probation for 6 months, a year, or barred completely.

In the previous normal times (whatever "normal" was/is.... <g>), that was sorta scary conceptually, but it seemed to work out that you could exit if you wanted to with some profit.

NOW? No way would I take an IPO with that restriction!!

I mean LOOK AT PALM!!! The potentially hottest IPO this year, UNDER it IPO price. Most year 2000 IPO's are, and many 1999 IPO's are, too.

Quality is diminishing now, as latecomers/stragglers tried to get in. Many investment bankers are holding off new paper now. Many cancellations even this week.

Nope. NO IPOs for me until I can be assured that I don't have any fear of holding at LEAST 2 weeks.
