I recall someone getting closed out on October 19, 1987 on the the same day they got a call. Or maybe they didn't even get one. <G>

Jim,

When I am on margin, I check my account every day. I have learned, however, that a lot of people don't. So, when they get a margin call and the broker doesn't actually call or mailagram them, they may not find out about the call until the day its due which of course is three days later. And the way they usually find out is that they see some of their stocks sold at the end of the day. I saw a lot of that on the dell thread last year.

I know its sounds stupid but you would not believe how often it happens this way.
