Ditch, if I may cut in....it looks like Ford is simply trying to get as much bang from their cash - $25 billion - as they can. The deal works out to be a stock split with an added cash dividend.

Have you taken a look at GM? Announcement expected this week on how they plan to exchange their GMH holdings for cash. Arbitrage play. Short GMH, buy GM.

"Ford's proposal"

Now that is a bit different isn't it. 20 in cash or shares of the spin off co. Only thing I see is the ratio of new stock has not been set yet. That, and maybe I'm being a little picky here, if you have 24 billion in cash and 12 Billion in debt, you are going to give away 10 billion in cash to do this deal does'nt that leave you with 12 billion in debt and a "paltry" 14 billion left in cash? LOL Without having reduced your debt any? I'm no bookkeeper, but there has to be something to replace all of that cash.

I'm not nearly smart enough to figure out if this is good for F or for the shareholders Kenny, but if I were a long time holder of F stock then I'd be jumping around like a little kid. From my normal mode as a trader I'd say this is a good opp for some fast money particularly with the present depressed market.
