All I'm trying to say is that it's a lot harder than it looks to switch over. I never even thought to mention, but the most unlikely or surprising stress comes from trading at home. Or doing any steady work from home for that matter. It wasn't as hard for me as it could have been, because long ago I developed a circle of friends with who I play golf, socialize with, and many of whom are traders. So I had a built in support group who could and did help me. Plus, of course, the social aspect of working with others was not gone because if some of us did not want to work we could meet up for golf. But even having that one has to consider the following; --your spouse does not realize that having you home does not mean you can drop everything and pick up the dry cleaning. --your office suddenly has a revolving door which always starts turning as the trade is under consideration --the kids see you home and want to play --everytime a plumber or a gardener or a painter comes by it's you that has to speak with him/her --When your wife is out, that's when the FedEx guy needs a signature Forget about the time you want to buy that new car and they ask you for your Employment History. This is just working out of the house. My wife has known for the last decade that I prefer not to be disturbed around 9:30 But you could set your watch by the time she walks into my office in the morning. I managed my sister's money for years. For years I asked her never to call me between 9 and 10. That's another Atomic Clock I would recommend. Almost every week, I would get calls between 9 and 10. Working from home isn't all it's cracked up to be, unless you can put a deadbolt on your office door. I actually have 6 phone lines coming into the house. If a call comes in to one of the "home" phones during the day, it can ring like crazy. I don't answer it. Why? Because it's not business and 5 will get you 10 whoever it is wants to talk and odds are they just interrupted you while you were considering a trade. This all sounds funny, perhaps, but I guarantee it will happen. All except for my sister calling, that is. For her, I installed Caller I.D. And I am not kidding about that either.
