James- I'm not saying Put Warrants will affect this quarters earnings. Only that sitting with $472,000,000 of puts outstanding right now is decidedly unpleasant and costly in the upcoming quarters. In 1987 a lot of companies come out with buy-back programs right after the crash. That was the catalyst for the quick recovery. Microsoft has already commited to buy backs at last years prices.

Not really. If MSFT misses, then it is as expected. Sherlund has prepared us for it.
However, if the conference call outlook is also bad then MSFT is hosed. However, if conf call is upbeat then MSFT goes up on the monday after.

I look at AMD's blowout Q and even more blowout projection for June Q and then look at Intel and they are the best leading indicators of Microsoft business.
