Good Point!

Also look for companies with real cash to acquire assets of other companies (buyouts!) at these much cheaper/compelling stock prices.

Could this bring some sector consolidation up and down the line?

I'd bet some in progress will accelerate and more new ones will initiate.

I think you are right. I remember one time, long ago, when there was a enormous sell off. The next day IBM announced that it was buying back millions of IBM shares immediately. Very smart. Started a major rally and left IBM in a great position. Businesses that know they will be reporting well could really benefit from this opportunity.
